Okay, I was ecstatic when Sean Penn won the Oscar for Best Actor.
I saw both "Milk" and "The Wrestler," and even though I can't deny Rourke's emotional performance, I felt that Penn's was much more deserving. In terms of skill, Penn is the better of the two. His rendition of Harvey Milk was the more labor intensive role.
While Rourke did have to physically modify himself for the role, the character mirrored his life story so intimately that it would he practically portrayed himself.
Penn, on the other hand, immersed himself into the life of a completely different man, in a different time and impeccably brought it to the screen.
I'm just glad that the "comeback" aspect of Rourke's performance didn't push him to the podium.
BUT Rourke did win the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama, so that's good.
I'm just really glad Penn got the Oscar.
HUGH JACKMAN ON THE OTHER HAND IS REALLY PERPLEXING
First, I see him doing this:
then I remember the awesome movie of his coming out soon seen here:
I love how this guy can dance and sing, then work out for four months straight and slice stuff up with his hands. The Wolverine movie looks so amazing, and I really am excited about Gambit's appearance. Also, how awesome is it that they didn't just make an X-Men 4. The studio is mixing things up a little, and I like it
